“Giving Back To The Community”
Mari’s Hella Fat Food believes in giving back to the community! Every few months Mari’s Hella Fat Food will team with an organization/individual with a cause.
We have decided to donate a portion of all proceeds for those months to that organization/individual.
For Jan-Mar 2019 we will be donating a portion of all our proceeds to the Colonial Capital Humane Society .Established in 1978, Colonial Capital Humane Society (CCHS) is the only no-kill shelter in Craven County. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for abandoned, abused and neglected animals while they wait for their forever homes. CCHS is a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer and donation driven organization.
This quarter (Oct-Dec 2018) we will be donating a portion of all proceeds to “ENC Stop Human Trafficking Now: “which desires to create a community that actively works towards abolishing human trafficking locally and globally”. You can read more about them here: http://encstophumantrafficking.org/ or on Facebook at: http://facebook.com/encstophumantrafficking
I am hella stoked to introduce you to our VERY FIRST organization/individual we are featuring: “Bethany Pedaling Richards” (Click HERE) and her involvement in “Pedaling For Parkinsons” (Click HERE). From The Sun Journal, 2016: For the past five years, Bethany Richards has driven her bike to and from work every week. Recently, Richards decided to modify her bicycle to raise money for a cause that hits close to home. “I’ve had a grandfather that’s passed away from Parkinson’s and I have other family members that are living with the disease currently,” Richards said.
On the back of her bike, a bright orange and green wooden box with the words “Pedaling for Parkinson’s” is stationed behind her seat. Richards will collect money through the rest of the year, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
“I figured since I road my bike and it’s already recognizable in the community, it would be a good opportunity to give to a foundation that means a lot to myself and my family,” Richards said.
There’s currently no cure for the debilitating nervous system disorder. The Michael J. Fox foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for the disease.
Parkinson’s disease effects more than 1 million Americans. According to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, U.S. doctor’s diagnose 60,000 new cases each year.
This is also a cause that is very near and dear to us that hits home. Bethany has taken on this mission with an enormous passion. No doubt you’ve seen her cruising through our New Bern streets on her bicycle, spreading insight and knowledge on this awful disease. Maybe you’ve ridden with her to the beach?? For the next few months we will be donating a portion of all proceeds to this cause. Keep us in mind when you see us out!! Great grub and supporting causes!!
If you’d like to be our organization or individual the next segment, then please feel free to fill out the below form so that we may contact you.
